This is a simple calculator for computing the required running distance (sometimes also called expected distance?), based on time and pace specifications. You can use it to estimate the amount of kilometers (or miles) that you need for a training suggestion like:
- Run 15 minutes at a pace of 06:10 per km as warm-up,
- then run 15 minutes at 05:10 per km,
- then do a cool-down of 10 minutes at 7:30 per km.
These kinds of suggestions are what you usually get when you follow the DSW (daily suggested workouts) of your Garmin Forerunner, in preparation to your next main running event.
For the example above, the expression you have to enter in the box below would be:
15:00@6:10 + 15:00@05:10 + 10:00@7:30
which yields the result of 6.67km.
A more complicated example would be an interval training with:
15:00@6:10 + 4*(3*(0:40@4:05 + 3:00@7:30) + 5:00@7:30) + 10:00@6:10
yielding 13.48km.
You can freely mix parentheses and the mathematical operations + and * just fine. There is no special "miles" mode, if you enter the pace related to miles the result will be in miles automatically. However, you have to be consistent within one calulation and can't mix paces related to kilometers with paces related to miles!
